Crops grown in Costa Rica
The type of agriculture in Costa Rica is commerical farming. There are numerous indigenous communities that practice subsistence farming techniques (Wikipedia). Almost 10% of the country's land is used for agriculture. The number of people in the work force is 6.3%. Many of the crops are genetically modified to improve and hasten growth. The types of crops are: bananas, pitas, sugar, rice, beans, cotton, vegetables and other fruits. The types of agribuisness are: global companies such as Dole, Chiquita, and Del Monte.
